Cornwall Skateparks – A Guide to the Best Spots for 2022
We are into the summer season! Which hopefully means more dry days at the skatepark and lighter nights! Therefore, we have put together a guide to the best skateparks across the UK, starting with our favourites within Cornwall!
The South West is home to an abundance of quality skateparks that cater to a variety of styles, while also being home to some of the finest Maverick built skateparks in the UK. A lot of these parks are in Cornwall; A unique skate-surf style scene that differs from major city scenes across the country. It has attracted many high-profile names in the UK scene and regularly holds skate jams, notably at Mount Hawke skatepark, which is one of the largest indoor skateparks in the UK.
Let’s begin with our favourite parks…
Mount Hawke
Although this park is a mostly an indoor skatepark, it does also have a small outside area that is a maverick built skatepark! It may not be your first choice on a dry day due to the array of outdoor parks on the doorstep, but it is worth a visit and is a great option for those wet days that always seem to come out of nowhere!
While also being a regular host of the UK Vert Series, Mount Hawke is a regular skate hub for Cornwall’s high-profile skateboarders. During wet and cold winter months, this is the place to be, but it can also be a good spot to know for summer.
Location: Waterworks, Gover House, Mount Hawke, TR4 8BQ
Parking: Free – Carpark for use
When to Visit:
Tuesday – Skateboarding only night (Can get busy though)
For quieter sessions, during the day or Wednesday nights.
Redruth
A relatively new skatepark, built by Maverick and located in a central Cornwall location, a great park for a laid-back flow or to sharpen up those kickflips. Redruth can be a quieter option than other ones located in more well-known tourist areas. While you are likely to encounter locals to the park, who are welcoming and friendly to respectful visitors. However, it should be noted that this park is often only skateable when fully dry as it can be very slippy and potentially lead to injury.
In terms of style, Redruth probably leans more towards park style skaters and bowl riders but does have an area suited to those more interested in street or searching for something in-between the two.
Location: 87 Drump Road, Redruth, TR15 1PR
Parking: No Car Park, local street parking but limited
When to Visit: When there has been no rain for at least 2 days, tends to be slippy and damp for a little while after rain.

St Newlyn’s
St Newlyn’s is a great park for those days where every skatepark is a bit too busy or if you want a chilled session with a smaller crowd. Although it’s not the largest of parks in Cornwall and might not fit all styles, it has a great design for flow and a fun game of skate with friends.
St Newlyn’s is located between Newquay and Truro, around 20 minutes’ drive from both, perfectly located as a quieter spot between Concrete Waves and Truro Plaza, two of the more popular skateparks in Cornwall.
Location: St Newlyn East, Newquay, TR8 5LE
Parking: Free Car Park and Street Parking
When to Visit: Anytime, usually quiet – it’s not unusual to have the park to yourself!

Probus Mini Ramp
Probus mini ramp is a half-pipe in the small village of Probus, situated just above the city of Truro. Although this can’t really be described as a skatepark, it is still an important spot for a little jam on your way through. Once again, a great place to be aware of when you are looking for a quiet spot on a nice summer day. It can be an intimating experience when skateparks are crowded, so being aware of these little spots can be a game-changer in helping you feel comfortable and focus on that progression.
